Role Summary

Cloacina is hiring a Product Design Engineer with a strong technical product development background to join our energetic and dedicated product management and development team.

In this role, you will help design and implement our membrane bioreactor package treatment systems. Your work will include improving our standard products and processes, as well as brainstorming and developing new and improved systems to meet industry needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Design systems to safely, efficiently, and effectively treat wastewater, remove harmful substances, and return water to the ecosystem.
• Create municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment plants.
• Take inputs from multiple disciplines and evaluate and implement design parameters for systems.
• Select equipment to meet design parameters.
• Evaluate existing equipment and emerging technologies to keep system design at the forefront of the industry.
• Coordinate with the mechanical design team to design systems and generate standard drawings.
• Standardize designs and generate template documentation to support products.
• Support a multidisciplinary team with technical questions related to products.
• Conduct market analysis to determine worthwhile products to develop.
• Maintain current knowledge and subject matter expertise.
• Work independently and maintain attention to detail.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

Education & Background

• A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred. Other engineering disciplines are acceptable with relevant experience.
• Experience in the wastewater or water treatment industry is preferred, but not required.
• Experience designing mechanical systems, such as pumps, piping systems, or aeration systems, is preferred, but not required.

Additional Experience & Skills

• Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) and version control.
• Experience with operational logic control and control narratives is a plus.
• Knowledge of statistical methods and reliability engineering is a plus.
• Applicants must have a clean DMV record.
• Occasional travel may be involved.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is passionate about the environment and improving community water resources, and has a background or interest in wastewater treatment, mechanical design, fabrication, and welding. They are curious, solution-oriented, dependable, and self-motivated.

Work Schedule

Hybrid work with flexible scheduling may be considered. This role requires at least 40% in-office availability. Fully remote work is not an option at this time.
